We created the following two crafts and games to accompany If You Give a Moose a Muffin and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff. Read the story first, then make the characters to act it out together!

- Brown Paper Bag (Lunch Bag)
- Paper or Card Stock
- Glue
- Scissors
- Markers (to make the face)
- Paint, Watercolors, Crayons, or Colored Pencils (to color overalls, paws, and ears)
Directions:
- Download our template and assemble your materials.
- Color each piece of the mouse and his overalls.
- Glue the overalls onto the brown paper bag.
- Glue the arms on the sides of the paper bag.
- Place the cookie on top of OR under the paw of the left arm; place the milk on top OR under the paw of the right arm.
- Glue the ears on the top part of the bag.
- Draw your mouse's face on the top part of the bag. (We used a pompom for a nose, but a marker will work, too!)
2. Make a Moose:
Supplies Needed:
- Paper or Card Stock
- Glue
- Scissors
- Markers (to make the face)
- Paint, Watercolors, Crayons, or Colored Pencils (to color the moose and muffins)
Directions:
- Download our template and assemble your materials.
- Color each piece of the moose.
- Trace your child's hands (left and right) to use as the antlers.
- Glue the moose's face together.
- Draw the moose's mouth and eyes.
3. Play a Muffin Game:
Supplies Needed:
- Paper or Cardstock
- Scissors
- Markers (to write letters, numbers, words, etc.)
- Paint, Watercolors, Crayons, or Colored Pencils (to color muffins)
Directions:
- Download our example and assemble your materials.
- Trace or draw a set of muffins to use.
- Label your muffins and then cut them out so the tops are separated from the bottoms.
