Make a "Recycled" Poem: April is National Poetry Month, and April 22nd is Earth Day! Looking for an activity that combines both? Look no further! Step 1: Assemble a good selection of newspapers, magazines, and other paper handouts you may have around the classroom or house. Step 2: Ask students to cut out different words that they like, in addition to "small" words like "a" and "the". Step 3: Either individually, in pairs, or as a group, create a poem using these "recycled" words! Glue or tape these to a sheet of paper and illustrate the page if you'd like! |

Thank you, Kathryn! The kids made a very silly poem, and thought it was a lot of fun!
