This background check will be conducted via Intellicorp by a member of TLC's Leadership Team. Background check forms will be made available at the time of training.
- Prospective volunteers will be required to attend a New Volunteer Training. This will be in person at Teton Literacy Center.

Snapshot of Volunteering at TLC
What our volunteers do at Teton Literacy Center- They motivate, encourage and support students and families with reading and writing development. Volunteers are matched based on interests, schedule, abilities and program needs. No experience necessary!
Why volunteers are needed- Due to the impact of COVID-19, TLC students need literacy support more than ever. In turn, we need volunteer support now more than ever to provide the TLC services students so dearly need. Indeed, without volunteer support, we cannot serve nearly as many students and our impact is significantly diminished.
How to become a Teton Literacy Center Volunteer- Those interested in volunteering should start by completing our Volunteer Application! Applicants will be required to complete a new volunteer training via Zoom, provide two positive references and all persons over 18 will be required to undergo a background check.

Wyoming Mandated Reporter Law
Wyoming state law mandates that any individual over the age of 18 who suspects child/vulnerable adult abuse, neglect or exploitation is required to report their observations.
At TLC, this is extremely rare, but in the instance that you do suspect a student is at risk, you are required to inform a TLC staff member of your observations, or if a student makes a disclosure to you. The TLC staff will then document your observation and work with the family to connect them with resources, including the Department of Family Services, as needed.
