Volunteer service is the heart and soul of TLC programs and AmeriCorps volunteers provide a crucial service to TLC and our community.
2007- AmeriCorps Vista volunteer, Laura Soltau- our current ED, started at Teton Literacy Center
2013- AmeriCorps members with Teton Science School complete community capacity building projects with TLC
2015- TLC's first full-time AmeriCorps members starts in our afterschool and family literacy programs
2018- TLC's full-time AmeriCorps position begins the first school-year long service with a stipend
2019- TLC hired a full-time, year long AmeriCorps position which includes a stipend, room and board.

Laura Soltau- Executive DirectorLaura started at Teton Literacy Center as an AmeriCorps Vista in 2007. Laura was the Children's Tutoring Program Director, Family Literacy Director and Director of programs. She currently serves as our Executive Director.
Her favorite thing about being part of TLC's team is all of the people that come through our doors; the amazing staff, tutors, and families. |
Kate Roberts- Early Literacy CoordinatorKate started as an AmeriCorps member in 2016. She currently serves as our Early Literacy Coordinator.
Her favorite part of TLC: "honsetly, my favorite thing about TLC is getting hang out with such cool coworkers everyday. We have awesome jobs in that we make a big impact in students' lives and the connection we get to make with families over time is pretty special. I think what keeps it fresh at the end of the day is having coworkers to tell stories and laugh with. |
Michael Kasper- Program CoordinatorMichael Kasper started at TLC in the Fall of 2018. After a full school year providing programs for our enrichment and Literacy Lab students, he joined us ful-time as a Program Coordinator summer of 2019.
Michael currently coordinates and instructs programs for our afterschool programs, enrichment and tutoring. Michael says " I really enjoy how this position has allowed me to become so involved in the community around Jackson through partner organizations and I love the relationships I form with the students!" |
Kristen Jovanelly- Program CoordinatorKristen started at TLC as an AmeriCorps member in 2018 in our Literacy Lab preschool. She currently served as our Program Coordinator.
Kristen says "it is remarkable to watch a child not only grow socially and academically over the course of your preschool class or club but within the TLC and wider community. Students and their families stay so involved in TLC and I've loved being able to move into different roles with students as they've gotten older. " Kristen is now in grad school at Yale University. |
