Thank you to our partners, families, students and donors for making this summer such a huge success!

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY AT SOAR INCLUDE?
What does a typical day at SOAR include?
  • Dedicated time for vocabulary, literacy and math instruction by full time TLC staff targeted for each individual camper
  • Dedicated time for recreation and play
  • Dedicated time for building the social-emotional skills needed to thrive in the 21st century
  • Adventurous field trips full of fun and learning
  • Hands-on learning activities which provide real world practice for literacy and math strategies

At SOAR, campers will discover a community of friends, counselors and leaders who view each individual camper as a student who can and will succeed.
WHY ARE SUMMER PROGRAMS IMPORTANT?
The National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) says “when the school year ends, children in high-poverty environments struggle not only with basic needs like healthy food and safe places to spend their days, but with losing precious time during the summer months to continue their learning. The cumulative effect is a crisis in the making: by the fifth grade, summer learning loss can leave low-income students two-and-a-half to three years behind their peers.

Students who fall behind over the summer are less likely to graduate from high school or go on to college. NSLA believes that diversity of every kind is critical to our nation’s success. Creating opportunities for summer learning sets the stage for innovation, creativity, and leadership in every community: the young people we nurture today are the foundation of our society tomorrow.”

For additional questions about SOAR, please call or email Anja Carlson, 307-733-9242, [email protected].
SUMMER PROGRAM IMPACT
SOAR stops summer learning loss through targeted programming and the hard work and commitment by students and families. In 2023, SOAR students on average made four months of growth in math and 3.5 months of growth in literacy. Check out our full summer impact here.
